GB3TO - M1 Junction 15 2M Repeater

GB3TO is located just south of Junction 15 on the M1 (Northampton). It is co-sited with GB7JF, Northants D-Star repeater. The repeater keeper is G6NYH.

The repeater is shortly going to undergo a large set of changes. The repeater keeper Gary has applied to change the repeater to a dual access unit. This will give local users the choice to use the repeater as D-Star compatible as well as the current analogue usage. It is hoped this will increase us of the repeater and fill a whole in VHF D-Star coverage.

To use the new repeater will take a little bit of give and take. For both types of use there will be an end of use timeout before the repeater can change mode. In general the repeater will be used on a first come first served basis. That does mean a few changes for analogue users. We would suggest that you set your radio to Decode and Encode the 77Hz CTCSS tone, so that you do not receive the Digital signal (similar to a carrier with white noise). Also you will need to check for a carrier before transmitting (i.e. Digital mode in use). Most modern radios have the ability like commercial radios to "Lock out TX during carrier detect).
